Job Description

  • Grade UE08: £45,585 to £54,395 per annum (A revised salary range for this grade of £48,350 to £59,421 is planned to take effect from Spring 2024).
  • College of Science & Engineering / School of Engineering / Centre for Electronic Frontiers (CEF) / Institute for Integrated Micro and Nano Systems.
  • Fixed Term Contract - Temporary.
  • Full Time - 35 Hours Per Week.

The Opportunity

The Hub Manager will provide leadership in designing and delivering of the ESPRC AI Hub APRIL that seeks to bring the benefits of AI to the UK electronics sector. APRIL will develop AI tools to accelerate the development of semiconductor technologies, novel microchip designs and system architectures – leading to faster, cheaper, greener and overall more power-efficient electronics. As one of nine EPSRC funded AI Hubs, this is a highly visible role both nationally and internationally. This role will coordinate the delivery of a nationally strategic programme bringing together an ecosystem of researchers, industry and policy makers operating across the full supply chain of electronics.

The Hub Manager will work closely with an operations team and a team of talented researchers to support co-creation of research challenges, support translational and commercialisation activities that deliver real-world impact, and generate a sustainable model of collaboration and growth. They will also work closely with the Hub Director and Principal Investigator and academic colleagues across the College of Science and Engineering, Edinburgh Innovations, academic leads in other UK HE institutions and industry partners to deliver on the strategic and operational objectives of the Hub and promote its portfolio of activities, whilst promoting the Hub as an inclusive and supportive environment.

The Hub Manager will have excellent coordination and communication skills, demonstrated experience in developing collaborations and partnerships, a specific focus on project management, and the operationalisation of finance administration, strategic stakeholder engagement, Hub inclusivity, events planning and outreach, digital-marketing, promotion – aligning with and benefitting from existing University of Edinburgh expertise and processes. The post-holder should be able to demonstrate strategic thinking and advise the APRIL AI Hub leadership team.

This role is UOE08 and is available on a fixed term basis for up to 5 years.
