School of Engineering Innovative Learning Week

Innovative Learning Week (ILW) this year runs from Monday 18 to Friday 22 February. Normal classes are suspended, and students and staff will have the opportunity to take part in a wide variety of events which will be completely different to normal classes held in a regular teaching week.

The School of Engineering's ILW website can be found online at:http://www.see.ed.ac.uk/drupal/Teaching/Current_Taught/Timetable/ILW_2013

Booking for Engineering events where booking is required, went live on Monday 28 January and in most cases is open for two weeks. Students and staff can read through the individual web page for each event they wish to take part in, and most bookings for Engineering events can be made through the MyEd Event Booking Channel. Events include:

  • lots of hands-on workshops, including bridge building, building a soapbox car for the Red Bull Soapbox Race, railway engineering and egg protection;
  • employability and careers events, including opportunities for students to meet with recent graduates;
  • a number of visits to a variety of industrial sites and museums;
  • an opportunity to learn about Chinese language and culture.

Students and staff can also attend events being run in other subject areas across the University, and you can find out more about this on the official University ILW website:http://www.ed.ac.uk/staff-students/students/studies/innovative-learning/innovative-learning-week

We hope everyone will find lots of exciting activities to try, and have a wonderful Innovative Learning Week!
