MPhil at the School of Engineering

The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) is your opportunity to work with internationally-acclaimed researchers and academics on a challenging research project to gain experience extremely valuable for your future career.

The MPhil degree resembles a PhD but generally takes two years instead of three and does not carry the same requirement for original contribution to knowledge.

You pursue your individual research project under supervision, submitting your thesis of no more than 60,000 words at the end of the project.

Transfer between MPhil and PhD is not unusual as projects and personal circumstances evolve.
