Student Representation

Effective student representation is a vital part of the University's quality assurance and learning and teaching enhancement processes.

Staff-Student Liaison Comittee

Your elected Class Representatives sit on the Staff-Student Liaison Committee (SSLC). There is one SSLC for each of the four Engineering disciplines. Each SSLC meet up at least once each semester (usually around Week 5).

Matters should only be brought to the SSLC when other informal methods have failed to resolve them, i.e. discussion at tutorials, with the course lecturer, with your Personal Tutor and finally with the Head of Discipline.

The minutes for the Staff-Student Liaison committees can be accessed by following the link below:

Further Information about Student Representatives

Further information about student representatives, including a role description, a list of class representatives, and advice on how academic staff can offer support, is available from the Edinburgh University Student Association (EUSA) website:

Student Support

Each student is allocated a Personal Tutor who will provide you with the academic advice that you need during your career in Edinburgh.

The University has a policy on academic and pastoral support which is available to download from the Academic Services website:
