The School of Engineering, as part of the wider College of Science and Engineering has developed an exciting opportunity for international students to gain access to some of our degrees. The Global Select Programme is designed for international students whose school leaving qualifications do not meet the current admissions requirements for direct entry to relevant undergraduate programmes, and who can demonstrate via an entrance test, evidence of excellence in their chosen areas of study.
Entry requirements for the Global Select Programme can be found on the university website. If you are from the EU or other countries whose qualifications allow direct entry to the University, this programme will not be suitable for you.
Although the College of Science and Engineering is no exception in applying these admission principles, we realise that this could result in the exclusion of highly talented students from certain countries whose school leaving qualifications are not yet formally recognised by the University as a basis for direct entry.
Successful students gaining entry to the College through the Global Select route will join in Year 1 alongside their direct entry counterparts, pursuing exactly the same study regime and enjoying just the same privileges as fellow undergraduates throughout their standard 4-year degree programme.
First year Global Select students will benefit from additional support to improve their English language skills and fill any knowledge gaps in their chosen area of study identified by the pre-entry assessment exercise that all Global Select candidates are required to undertake.
Applications to the Global Select Programme are made through UCAS. You should also have a look at our International Student pages and the EUSA Global site. EUSA Global is an award winning project which is designed to promote student involvement in internationalisation at the University of Edinburgh. The project helps run schemes like peer proof reading, an international buddy scheme to help you settle in and various social events.
