Development Engineer (Digital Design) in Li-Fi Technology

A digital communication engineer appointment is available in the Li-Fi Research and Development Centre. The LiFi Research and Development Centre at the University of Edinburgh is the world leading centre which translates fundamental Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 3 visible light communication research into commercial TRL 6 reference platforms for a large number of industries. The LRDC is currently involved in a number of both ESPRC and industry projects.

We are looking for a highly qualified Digital Engineer with industrial experience in communication system development, a high degree of creativity, considerable programming experience, excellent communication skills and team spirit. The candidate should have a strong appetite to develop new digital platforms for the emerging $100 billion LiFi market and is willing to contribute and being part of new company spin-out formations.

The candidate will work closely with other development engineers, researchers and senior academics at the Li-Fi Research and Development Centre and with external partners.

The post holder should have an MSc degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or Engineering/Physics, or equivalent industrial experience in digital electronics for communications, or be able to demonstrate equivalent research and development experience. You must have relevant programming experience, in particular in C/C++ and VHDL or Verilog and experience in digital PCB circuit design and validation for communication systems.

The post is expected to commence as soon as possible and is full time and fixed term for 12 months. Candidates invited for interview will be informed no later than two working weeks after the close of applications.
