Early Stage Researcher in Resilient LiFi for IoT

The EU-ITN project ENLIGT’EM (https://enlightem.eu/) is now recruiting 15 early stage researchers (ESRs) to work on a diverse range of challenges in visible light communications/LiFi. Two of these positions, ESR 1.1 and ESR 2.1, are now available in the LiFi R&D Centre, School of Engineering, University of Edinburgh. This advert is for ESR 2.1 whose focus will be on networked LiFi systems with multiple access points (APs). This will include modelling and implementing node mobility management and seamless handover techniques in Visible Light Communication Internet of Things (VLC IoT).

The successful candidate will hold an MSc/MEng degree or First class degree in any of the following:
Electronic/Electrical Engineering,
Computer/Electronic Engineering,
Communication Engineering,
Physics or any other closely related subjects.

A strong competence in communication theory, Matlab programming and passion for experimental work are required as well as good communication skills and ability to work in a team.

The ESR will be registered as a PhD student in the School of Engineering and will submit a PhD thesis at the end of the project. Candidates will be expected to meet PhD admissions requirements of the School of Engineering, University of Edinburgh and the EU mobility requirements.

The post is offered on a full time, fixed term basis for three years.

The position is open to applicants from all nationalities, as long as they meet the mobility requirements listed below.
