The School of Engineering has recently established a comprehensive reactive flow laser diagnostics capability, combined with a high pressure and temperature spray chamber and an optically-accessible single-cylinder engine.
We are seeking to appoint two academic staff members at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level to collaborate with the existing group. One position is for computational research and the other is for experimental research. Our strategy includes further diversification of our reacting flow portfolio, and it is expected that the new academic members will participate in that process. This research group is located within the Institute for Multiscale Thermofluids (IMT), which offers possibilities for broader collaboration. For the new experimental researcher, an emphasis on new laser diagnostics that complement the work of existing staff members is critically important. Furthermore, we are seeking candidates who have interests in complementary multi-phase and/or reactive flows.
The associated computational post is advertised *HERE*
The level of appointment (Lecturer or Senior Lecturer) will be determined by the selection panel. The successful experimentalist candidate will be internationally prominent in research, or will demonstrate potential to be so, through a track record of excellence in unconventional laser diagnostics for combustion and possibly other reactive flows. An ability to work with industry is highly desirable. The successful candidate will be expected to provide excellent vision and delivery in teaching and research in Mechanical Engineering, as well as contributing to the School and wider University administration.
It is expected that interviews will take place in Edinburgh in late September/ early October 2019.
For informal discussion, potential candidates are invited to contact the Head of School, Prof. Conchúr Ó Brádaigh at +44 131 650 5566, or HoS.Eng@ed.ac.uk.
This post is full time and open ended.
