A 24-month, fixed term appointment as Project Manager (PM) of the new EPSRC-funded Structural Composites Research Facility (SCRF) is available from August 1st, 2017 within the Institute for Materials and Process at the University of Edinburgh. This position will comprise management of the design and commissioning of a novel large-scale fatigue testing facility, and liaison with academic and industrial partners of this facility to deliver the initial research programmes at the Facility on time and within budget.
The purpose of the SCRF is to evaluate large composite structures under fatigue loading conditions over sustained periods of months per structure. Structures will comprise marine tidal turbine blades (ca. 11 m in length) in the first instance.
The PM will report to the Principal Investigator (PI), Prof. Conchur Ó Brádaigh and the Co-Investigators (Co-Is) (Dr. Edward McCarthy, Dr. Tim Stratford) in the project. The PM will also be responsible for all operations of the SCRF and for management on a day-to-day basis of the other staff in the facility. He/she will also plan and carry out experimental test campaigns (as part of research programmes) within the SCRF facility with internal and external research users, including commercial companies.
