The Opportunity

This Research Associate position will contribute to the the Heat Accumulation from Renewables with Valid Energy Storage and Transformation for decarbonising heating and cooling within the Institute for Materials and Processes at the University of Edinburgh, which is funded by UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and in collaboration with colleagues at The University of Birmingham and University College London.

This role is UE07 and is available on a fixed term basis for up to 24 months.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Proven track record of research in adsorption processes, composite materials or reaction engineering, with a specific focus on the development of adsorption process for energy storage, adsorbent composite and catalysts, or a closely related area.
  • Proven track record of research in reactor design and construction, or a closely related area.
  • Experience in delivering research project results in reactor design, adsorption, energy storage or reaction engineering context; i.e. a record of peer-reviewed journal and conference papers in a relevant area.
  • A good undergraduate degree and a PhD in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or a clearly related area, with a focus on adsorption, reaction engineering, or composite materials, or a closely related area or equivalent industry experience.
  • Capable of working independently, exercising a high degree of initiative and demonstrating a pro-active and flexible approach to work.
