In 2009, Ten prestigious EPSRC research studentships were awarded to talented engineering and physical science graduates to undertake a 4 year PhD. The Centre is now recruiting another 10 graduates to start their PhDs in October 2017. This unique opportunity combines training and research to enable graduates to make the transition into the wind and marine energy sector - a rapidly expanding area in the UK and overseas, with an overwhelming demand for well qualified people.
The overall aim of the Research Centre is to meet the needs of the fast growing wind energy industry by providing high calibre PhD graduates with the specialist, generic and leadership skills necessary to lead future developments in wind energy systems. The objectives are to ensure all students from different disciplines gain competencies in core aspects of wind energy systems engineering and understand the socio economic impact of wind energy systems.
Studentships are available to UK and eligible EU citizens with (or about to obtain) a 1st class or 2.1 degree or a Masters degree in a Physical Science or Engineering discipline. The studentships will begin on 1st of October each year and cover University fees and a highly competitive stipend for four years.
The UK Wind Energy Research Centre is based at the University of Strathclyde, Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering's Institute for Energy and Environment.

Minimum entry qualification - an Honours degree at 2:1 or above (or International equivalent) in a relevant science or engineering discipline, possibly supported by an MSc Degree. Further information on English language requirements for EU/Overseas applicants.
