Hopetoun House is a country house located in South Queensferry near Edinburgh. It has been home to the Hope Family since the 17th century and the present Lord Hopetoun and his family still live in the south wing of the House. Hopetoun House is a lovely and remarkable stately home filled with stunning collections and sits within majestic grounds with nature trails and scenic walks. To protect and improve their amenities, and to preserve for the benefit of the nation the furniture, paintings and manuscripts, the house now is owned by the Hopetoun House Preservation Trust. During the summer months, parts of the castle and gardens are open to visitors.
There were guided tours throughout the house and the staff were very knowledgeable about the house including the Outlander series filming stories and locations all of which are marked on their maps. All of the staff were enthusiastic and love the house. They love to introduce each furniture, painting, tapestrie and clock, with beautifully crafted finishes of carving, gilding and plaster work in the house in great detail.

The Spring Garden Trail on the south side of Hopetoun House has many of the ornamental trees and shrubs growing there. From June, the red deer herd produce new calves every year. The babies will be flecked with white spots for the first couple of months and will never be far from their mother’s side. It’s a visit to the deer park is a must to see the deer calves. At the end of the tour, you can go to the Stables Kitchen where is cozy and comfortable to have a rest.
