Gabriel dos Santos

My research focuses on the numerical modeling of superconducting materials and devices, with emphasis on the development of advanced finite-element formulations for efficient and accurate simulation of high-temperature superconductors (HTS). I am the first author of the J-A, J-A-φ, and T-A-φ formulations, which have been developed to significantly reduce the computational cost of large-scale simulations while preserving high fidelity in the representation of nonlinear electromagnetic behavior.

My work includes the modeling of HTS cables, coils, magnets, and superconducting machines, addressing challenges such as AC losses, current distribution, and electromagnetic-thermal coupling. I actively collaborate with several international groups working on HTS modeling and applied superconductivity, contributing to the development of reliable computational tools that support the design and optimization of superconducting technologies for power systems, fusion magnets, and advanced electrical machines.
