Making space for making spaces July 2nd - 3rd, 2026 Register here UNIMAKER is an annual meeting that brings together users, teams and organisers of higher education maker and making spaces from across the UK. The meeting offers an avenue for discussions on all aspects of makers, making spaces, technologies and user engagement. The event is a forum to discuss and engage with the current practices in making spaces (both established and emerging) within the UK and beyond.Don't miss out on an excellent opportunity to come together with staff and students from across the spectrum to discuss and contribute to the current dialogue on maker and making spaces. As always at UNIMAKER our goal is building a lasting framework for collectively supporting the members of our educational making community through knowledge exchange. In a climate of challenging times for many higher education institutions, this year will focus on a) people: how our colleagues around the country have overcome emerging challenges within their own institutions (from finance to organisational frameworks, H&S and much more) and what lessons they have to share from successes or otherwise and b) making: how the making in university/higher education environment is making a difference to pedagogy and student experience including enabling students to realise challenging projects (e.g involving high voltage battery packs, fabrication of fibre reinforced composite materials etc) and progress towards student led makerspaces .Central to the event will be plenty of opportunities for discussion and networking as this has been beneficial to previous attendees. UNIMAKER 2026 is expected to bring together makers from different areas and interest to share ideas, concepts and experience through a range of engagement formats. Night of July 1st: Pre-event networking dinner/drinks at The Canopy, Edinburgh (19:00)July 2nd: Events at the Edinburgh Futures Institute - topics for the day focusing on the people who make.July 3rd: Events at the King's Buildings - a mini symposium on students and users and the stuff they make.
