Electronics and Electrical Engineering Summer School

Our Electronics and Electrical Engineering summer school is open to pupils from Edinburgh and the Lothians who are about to enter S5 or S6.

This week-long programme, held in June, offers a hands-on introduction to the exciting world of Electronics and Electrical Engineering.

Through practical activities, interactive sessions, and team-based projects, participants will gain insight into how engineers design and power the systems that shape our modern world.

Get ready for a hands-on introduction to Electronics and Electrical Engineering. Across four exciting days, you'll have opportunities to experiment with real technology, develop practical skills and discover the many different directions an engineering career can take.

You’ll explore the breadth of Electronics and Electrical Engineering through a range of practical activities and demonstrations. You’ll solder your own PCBs, explore photolithography, experience a sample university lecture and get a taste of how engineers learn and work in a university environment.

You’ll also experience our remote laboratories, giving you the opportunity to work with engineering equipment and experiments and see how technology is used in modern engineering.

Working alongside other pupils, researchers, staff and students throughout the four days, you'll have plenty of opportunities to ask questions, get creative and find out what studying and working in Electronics and Electrical Engineering is really like.

This programme is open to pupils who are going into S5 or S6 after the summer and meet the following requirements:
