If you are unable to attend an open day, we offer other opportunities to visit the School:
Student Led Tours
We host student led tours every Friday. Please contact us if you are interested in taking one of these tours.
Self Guided Tours
We have self guided tours of the King's Building Campus and the George Square Campus available.
Undergraduate Post-application Visiting Days
We invite all those who have applied to one of our Undergraduate degree programmes and have been made an offer by us to come and visit the School. The visit includes a city tour, a visit to Pollock Halls, lunch and a tour of our facilities. Please note that these days are by invitation only and a registration link will be sent to offer holders.
Virtual Visits
We offer a series of virtual visits to the school, where applicants and prospective students can meet with staff in an online setting and chat with the them using audio or text to find our more about the School and the programmes we offer.
A virtual visit is an on-line interactive session where you will get the opportunity to listen to presentations from members of academic staff within the School of Engineering, and the chance to ask any questions that you have. The presentations cover:
- Life in the city of Edinburgh
- The University of Edinburgh structure
- Opportunities for study available in the School of Engineering
- Accommodation options
- Details of the programme of study you are interested in
Virtual visits are hosted on Blackboard’s Collaborate Web Conferencing system. The only requirements are a computer, and an Internet connection. You do not need a microphone or a webcam as questions can be asked through a text chat box. (If you do wish to use a microphone to ask questions, please use headphones, or a headset, to avoid feedback). All participants are encouraged to find out how Collaborate works, and test out their PC and connection by following the steps on the Blackboard Collaborate Web Conferencing instructions.
