What attracted you to the University of Edinburgh and this programme, in particular?

The Civil Engineering programme integrates numerous elements of sustainability and the environment into the degree. Also, the picturesque landscapes of Edinburgh reminded me of Hogwarts!

What do you wish you'd worried about less about coming to university?

I wish I’d worried less about making new friends here because the community in Edinburgh is friendly and easy-going. 

What one thing would you recommend new students at the University of Edinburgh do?

Hike Arthur Seat!

What aspects of student life do you enjoy the most and why?

The opportunity to participate in various extracurricular activities, like HYPED, provides an opportunity to connect with engineering students from different streams. Engaging myself in badminton allows me to meet people who share similar interests. 

What do you most like about studying here?       

I relish the exceptional experiences offered by the temperate climate and the chance to immerse myself in the diverse cultural environment of the UK, surrounded by a blend of international students hailing from various corners of the globe.

What do you find most challenging and most rewarding about your programme?

The syllabus is really challenging as the university emphasizes the “thinking outside of box” approach, requiring students to be highly creative and innovative; but worry not, tutors here are exceptionally supportive and willing to assist with any academic challenges you may encounter.

How is your programme equipping you for your future career?

My academic program encompasses crucial elements and skills necessary for my future role as a Water Engineer. This includes essential courses like Environmental Engineering and Wastewater Treatments, coupled with industry-relevant skills such as proficiency in AutoCAD, ABAQUS, and GSA.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking of studying at the University of Edinburgh?

For anyone contemplating studying at the University of Edinburgh, my advice would be to embrace the vibrant academic environment and diverse community. Don't hesitate to explore the picturesque city and engage with its rich cultural offerings. Additionally, be open to making new connections, as the friendly and inclusive atmosphere at the university ensures a rewarding social experience alongside your academic journey.
