3 out of 4 recent Scottish Engineering Hall of Fame additions are alumni of the University of Edinburgh’s School of Engineering. These include telephone inventor Alexander Graham Bell, lighthouse designer Robert Stevenson and structural engineer Sir Duncan Michael.

The School of Engineering is developing plans to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the first Regius Chair of Engineering at the University of Edinburgh in 1868.
2018 will mark the 150th anniversary of the Regius Chair of Engineering, thus establishing engineering studies at the University of Edinburgh on a par with the best in the UK. The School of Engineering will be marking this significant anniversary with a programme of events and activities. Planning has begun, and we also want to receive ideas and suggestions from our community of staff, students and alumni – or indeed anyone with a great idea!
