Over the weekend of 5th–7th October 2018, alumni, staff and students gathered to mark 150 years of engineering creativity at the School of Engineering.
On Monday 3rd September 2018, the School’s first commemorative plaques were unveiled to celebrate the achievements of three outstanding alumni, and the School’s first ever Regius Professor.
2018 marks 150 years since Queen Victoria bestowed the first Regius Chair of Engineering in the UK to the University of Edinburgh. On Wednesday 24 January the School celebrated this milestone by launching its Engineering150 celebrations.
The School of Engineering is developing plans to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the first Regius Chair of Engineering at the University of Edinburgh in 1868.
2018 will mark the 150th anniversary of the Regius Chair of Engineering, thus establishing engineering studies at the University of Edinburgh on a par with the best in the UK. The School of Engineering will be marking this significant anniversary with a programme of events and activities. Planning has begun, and we also want to receive ideas and suggestions from our community of staff, students and alumni – or indeed anyone with a great idea!
