The Edinburgh Research Partnership in Engineering is delighted to announce that, following the outcome of REF2021, the joint submission from the University of Edinburgh and Heriot-Watt University in Engineering was ranked 1st in Scotland and 3rd in the UK for quality and breadth of research.
The University of Edinburgh is an extraordinary place, full of extraordinary people making a positive impact on all our communities. This month's highlight is Susan Rosser who is Professor of Synthetic Biology, a joint appointment between the School of Biological Sciences and School of Engineering.
This month, students in the School of Engineering have been given the opportunity to apply for funding of up to £2500 for their student projects through the newly launched Engineering Student Innovation Fund.
Dr Camilla Thomson, the School’s Chancellor’s Fellow in Energy, and alumna Clare Lavelle, who is Head of Energy Consultancy at Arup, have been named in the Top 50 Women in Engineering in the UK by the Women’s Engineering Society (WES).
We are delighted to present our plans to create a new Maker Space within the School of Engineering for our students. Our vision is to provide a creative and functional space where students can practise, create and innovate. MakerSpace@Eng will be a place for our students to grow and learn in a stimulating, bespoke environment, engaging in hands-on projects where they will have the opportunity to bring their learning to life and transform ideas into three-dimensional reality.
