What path has your career taken since graduation?

After graduating I started work as a Building Services and Environmental Engineer. This was due to the experience I had during my university placement. Then in 2021 I returned to Max Fordham where I conducted the placement.

What is your current role?

I am a building services engineer, I work with architects and structural engineers to design buildings.

What experiences do you feel helped you get to your current position?

Group projects were useful for practicing working as part of a design team.

How have you used the skills and/or knowledge developed during your degree in your career?

The method of learning was the biggest aid in developing my career. Learning how to pick up new concepts, understand them, answer questions and be able to present in a digestable way through presentations/reports.

What advice would you give to students who are interested in your area of work?

Get involved in the engineering societies, use the careers department resources and always ask questions. The best thing is to own up when you don't know/understand something so that you can actually learn.
