Please note that this is an MPhil Project.
The composites industry is facing significant environmental challenges due to waste management and resource efficiency issues. It is essential to address the waste flows that come from manufacturing operations and the disposal of end-of-life components while providing routes that foster the uptake of recycled and reused materials into high-value composite materials.
In this MPhil project, the student will investigate innovative solutions that can support the global shift towards a circular economy. By transforming waste fibres into engineered composite materials, this project will contribute to the development of sustainable materials and processes, effectively addressing issues with waste management and the growing dependency on virgin fossil-based resources.
The ideal student would have a keen demonstrable interest or background in material science, chemistry, engineering or a related field. A drive to conduct research, self-motivation and the ability to work independently and within a team
