Am I eligible to apply? There are some restrictions on who can apply to this programme so please check your eligibility carefully. Entry requirements A UK 2:1 honours degree, or its international equivalent, in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering, or in an appropriate subject or a related discipline.Students with significant industrial experience, or with relevant professional qualifications, who have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate subject will be given due consideration on a case-by-case basis. English Language RequirementsAll applicants must also meet English language requirements, as per UoE guidelines, namely:either an undergraduate or postgraduate degree that was taught and assessed in English in a majority English speaking country, as defined by UK Visas and Immigration;IELTS Academic: total 6.5 with at least 6.0 in each component. We do not accept IELTS One Skill Retake.TOEFL-iBT (including Home Edition): total 92 with at least 20 in each component. We do not accept TOEFL MyBest Score to meet our English language requirements.C1 Advanced (CAE) / C2 Proficiency (CPE): total 176 with at least 169 in each component.Trinity ISE: ISE II with distinctions in all four components.PTE Academic: total 62 with at least 59 in each component. When deciding this you may find it useful to look at projects in the different themes. While this helps us to process your application it does not limit you, as you will be considered for projects in other themes if that is appropriate.Any other information you believe would strengthen your case.A CVPlease provide information on your qualifications and relevant experience. A limited number of international studentships are available.You will also be awarded a generous Research Training and Support Grant (RTSG) over the four year period. You do not have to apply separately for funding. BPSS - Baseline Personnel Security Standard One of the conditions of funding is for all those who have accepted offers to undergo basic recruitment checks in keeping with the core principles of the UK government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard screening (BPSS). The SPADS Administration team can guide you through this process, you do not need to organise this yourself. You will only need to complete BPSS if you receive and accept an offer. On submission of your application to EUCLID you will receive a confirmation email from EUCLID.Please make sure to upload all the requested documents to ensure that your application can be processed smoothly. Successful candidates will then be offered a SPADS PhD scholarship and the opportunity to select a PhD project from our list of approved projects.
