Edinburgh Award for Civil and Environmental Engineering Industrial Internships

Civil Engineering students have benefited from the introduction of the Edinburgh Award for Civil and Environmental Engineering Industrial Internships. This Award was developed with input from our Industrial Advisory Board and seeks to support development of key Graduate Attributes which are of relevance to employability. As well as giving the opportunity to gain valuable engineering experience, the Award also enables students to reflect on the skills developed during the internship. Successful completion of the Edinburgh Award is recognised on degree transcripts. Student feedback on this initiative has been extremely positive.

"The Edinburgh Award was a simple process in which I picked skills and attributes that I wanted to develop throughout my summer internship. The company I was working for assisted me in developing an action plan to target these skills. I feel that this experience this has put me in front of my peers because in addition to the work place experience I gained, showing an initiative for professional development and self reflection is a key skill that engineering graduates require." Zoe Conway, Class of 2018

Internships are undertaken outside of term time, usually during the summer break. Help with securing an internship is given by the department.
