India UK Scientific Seminar - Supported by Royal Society London and Department of Science of Technology India.

Title: Knowledge transfer seminar on the Impact of Climate change on Offshore Wind, Marine energy and Coastal defence systems

This seminar will create an opportunity for researchers from both UK and India to interact and share their research interests, knowledge and experience on areas such as: energy resource prediction methodologies used in different energy sectors, technologies developed for power extraction, on-going research activities in energy technologies, coastal defence systems, dealing with climate change, learning about India and UK governments policies on energy and climate change, exposure to current research activities in UK and India and further research in the field of coastal/ocean engineering and climate change in both countries. It is hoped that in bringing two team of scientists together would create opportunities for joint PhD scientific research, themes for funding applications, ideas for joint patents, new knowledge transfer and future student and staff exchange programmes between the University of Edinburgh and Indian Institutions.

This financial support for this seminar is provided by the Royal Society London and the Department of Science and Technology (DST) India. This helped to invite five eminent researchers from India from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)Bombay, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) Chennai, National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) Goa and, ten UK participants from the University of Edinburgh, University of Exeter, Heriot-watt University, Strathclyde University and University of Highlands and Islands.
