Title: Ongoing research in Smart Grids and Demand Side Management

Abstract & Bio:
Aristides holds a BEng in Electronics Engineering from TEI Crete, Greece, a Diploma in Communications, Control & Digital Signal Processing from the University of Strathclyde and a PhD in Electrical Power Systems from the University of Edinburgh.  Between 2007 and 2010 he was an Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering of TEI Crete.  He returned to Edinburgh in 2010, where he is currently a Lecturer in Power Systems.  Since 2004 he has worked in several large EPSRC research projects including all phases of Supergen Marine,  DESIMAX, and several EU FP7 projects such as the ongoing DTOCEAN and ADVANTAGE programmes.  His research spans from integration of renewables, to smart grids, demand side management and energy efficiency.  In this presentation Aristides will focus on his smart grids and demand side management research. Time permitting, he will also present a non-power (but lots of fun) undergraduate project he has been supervising over the past 2 years.
