Prof. Mike Davies was elevated to the position of Fellow of the Institution of Electronic & Electrical Engineering (FIEEE), the leading international organisation in the field, for contributions to sparse representations in signal processing and compressed sensing.

According to the IEEE web site “the IEEE Grade of Fellow is conferred by the Board of Directors upon a person with an extraordinary record of accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest”. The award to Prof. Davies is also notable because it was based on the quality of his research output alone. FIEEE is restricted to only 0.1% of the IEEE membership.

Prof. Davies also serves on the IEEE Signal Processing Society Technical Committee for Theory and Methods.
