Biography: 

Mr. Xiao Liu is currently a first-year Ph.D. student in IDCOM, supervised by Prof. Sotirios Tsaftaris. 

Academic Qualifications: 

  • 2013 - 2017: Bachelor's degree, Xiamen University and The University of Edinburgh, Electronics and Electrical Engineering
  • 2018 - 2019: Master's degree with Distinction, The University of Edinburgh, Signal Processing and Communication
  • 2019 - 2023: Ph.D., The University of Edinburgh, AI Healthcare, – Supported by the Royal Academy of Engineering and Canon Medical Research Europe.

Research Interests: 

My Ph.D. project topic mainly covers healthcare AI, which is also my research interest. The most attracting research for me will be exploring the rigorous theories behind the disentangled interpretable representation learning in either an unsupervised manner or a semi-supervised/weakly supervised manner.
