Congratulations to Aleksandra Osuchowska, our third year electrical and mechanical engineering student, who has won a prestigious Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng) Engineering Leaders Scholarship (ELS).

The competitive scholarship scheme supports undergraduates who display the potential to become leaders and innovators in engineering and who want to become leadership role models for the next generation of engineers.

ELS scholars receive £5,000 to be used over three years towards career development activities, alongside an accelerated personal development programme including dedicated training, networking events and the support of a Royal Academy Mentor.

Reacting to her scholarship award, Aleksandra said:

“Winning the Engineering Leaders Scholarship is one of the greatest opportunities and honours I’ve received so far. Not only will I be able to attend the European Space Agency summer school and an intensive language course, but I will also have the invaluable support of a mentor from the Royal Academy of Engineering.

“On top of that, I'll have access to a network of over 300 ambitious alumni. I’m excited to learn from them and be inspired as I shape my career path. I can’t wait to get started!”

Professor Gareth Harrison, Head of the School of Engineering said:

“I’m delighted to see Aleksandra secure a prestigious Engineering Leaders Scholarship and fully expect her to make full use of it as a springboard to her future career. She joins many other Edinburgh engineering students and graduates who have become Engineering Leaders Scholars and I hope that Aleksandra’s success will inspire other students to apply to this fantastic RAEng scheme.”
