Abstract

In recent years, wireless communication networks have seen significant advancements. This talk focus on the latest developments in antenna technology, particularly highlighting the innovative use of dual-polarized antennas for full-duplex communication and radar/diversity applications.

Dual-polarized antennas are increasingly recognized as a promising solution for enhancing communication efficiency and signal reliability in next-generation wireless networks. By employing orthogonal polarizations, these antennas enable simultaneous signal transmission and reception, supporting full-duplex communication.

Additionally, their ability to capture multiple signal paths and mitigate multipath fading makes them well-suited for radar applications, especially in target detection and range measurement using frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) radar systems. The talk will explore how integrating dual-polarized antennas with FMCW radar technology can significantly enhance target detection capabilities, particularly in challenging environments by using different polarizations.

Biography

Iram Shahzadi has a solid academic foundation in electrical engineering, having completed both her B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees at the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore. Currently in her 4th year of Ph.D. at the Institute for Imaging, Data and Communications (IDCOM) on a scholarship funded by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan.

Iram's research focuses on antenna design. Specifically, she is exploring multifunctional antennas for wireless communication systems, with a current emphasis on dual-polarized antennas for full-duplex and radar applications. Her dedication to advancing antenna technology aligns with her aspirations to make significant contributions to the field of wireless communications.
