What aspects of student life do you enjoy the most and why?

I enjoy that assignments provoke creativity rather than restrict it. This way I am able to explore creative ways to solve problems. I find that juggling between tasks can sometimes be challenging, especially when several assignments are close to deadlines. However, I feel rewarded once I have submitted my coursework and get a decent grade on them.

What is your favourite course so far and why?

My favourite course so far is Microelectronics 2. This is because our lecturer gives live demonstrations with electrical components which makes the lectures intriguing. Being in a joint honours programme, I get both hands-on labs and project-based learning. I get to access industry standard equipment used on electronic circuits, where I get to apply my theoretical knowledge in a practical setting.

Can you tell us of any personal of professional achievements during your studies?

I took part in the Informatics Tutoring Scheme volunteering as a supervisor. This scheme aims to help students from underprivileged backgrounds by bridging the gaps in their knowledge in class content using 1 hour tutoring sessions per week.

What do you wish you'd worried about less about coming to university?

Making friends was never as hard as I had thought. In my first year of university, I joined various social events, student societies and clubs to meet people with the similar interests.

What one thing would you recommend new students at the University of Edinburgh do?

I would recommend new students enjoy their university experience as much as possible. I would also recommend they check out Arthur’s Seat and Calton Hill. Also, be consistent in revising the content of lectures as it will be a struggle to catch up later. Make use of the facilities as much as possible, especially the quiet study areas in the library.
