Louis Moore

Final year, MEng Mechanical Engineering

I was born in Northern Ireland and moved over to Dumfries and Galloway in South West Scotland in 2009. I really enjoyed making my own fun in the rural area and got involved in many sports during high school.

After a bike stunt team called "The Clan" (featuring Danny MacAskill) visited my town I got very into mountain biking and subsequently road cycling. Almost ten years later, I now compete internationally in road racing and I'm also Publicity Secretary of Edinburgh University Cycling club!

It was in fact the innovation and design side of mountain biking that first sparked my interest in engineering. I would read stacks of magazines and online articles about the latest tech and have seen huge advancement over the 10 years I have been involved in the sport. The object in my photograph is the prototype 2021 Flux RS2 from my cycling team sponsor Moriarty Bikes. I have had the pleasure of being one of the first people to test and feedback on this bike.

It is my engineering dream to work with a team and bring fresh concepts to push the performance of these high-end bikes even further and to create versatile transport solutions to lessen our environmental impact.

I would love for something that I designed to help ensure a sustainable future, especially one where bikes are involved.
