Professor Mike Davies awarded IET Achievement Medal in Signal Processing

Professor Mike Davies has been awarded an IET Achievement Medal in Signal Processing. This accolade recognises his contributions to the fields of signal processing, applied mathematics, and machine learning.

Professor Davies is celebrated for his innovative work in signal processing, machine learning, and computational imaging which has advanced the performance of synthetic aperture Radar, Lidar and medical imaging systems.

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) bestows these medals annually to individuals who have made significant contributions to the advancement of science, engineering, or technology.

Professor Davies commented:

“I am delighted and honoured to receive this award, though equally, credit should go to my fantastic researchers and collaborators over the years. It has been a privilege to contribute to modern data-driven techniques for sensing and imaging.”

Professor Guangzhao Mao, Head of the School of Engineering, added:

“I’m delighted that the work of Professor Mike Davies has been recognised by the IET with this well-deserved award. As our Director of Research, he has offered significant leadership in this field. I look forward to continuing to work with him and our research colleagues as we explore solutions to global challenges.”

IET President, Warren East CBE, said:

“We’re honoured to present these talented individuals with our Achievement Awards. They have each excelled in their professions and they have made vast contributions as pioneers across the engineering and technology industry. From our medallists to our talented apprentice and technician winners, they should all be rightly proud of their achievements – they are incredible role models for the next generation.”

Professor Davies is Professor of Signal and Image Processing, holds the Jeffrey Collins Chair in Signal and Image Processing and is Director of Research at the School.
